Congress “A Little Light” on Energy Plan

You can learn the darnedest things if you watch CSPAN.  Hope this informs.  It’s one of the funniest things coming out of our congress … and sadly, “politics as usual.”

  1. That’s funny about the curly lightbulbs, as I call them. I broke one and packaged it in a couple of bags before tossing it. I guess the answer is to try not to break them.

The batteries we toss into the trash every day are also supposed to be disposed of safely, to a special deposit station. But who ever does that? The battery companies know about the dangers of throwing batteries into landfills, but there’s not much press.

Anyway, about the curly lightbulb. I’m selling my house; it sat empty last winter with incandescent lights burning 24/7, including an outdoor floodlight. My electric bill was around $120 each month with all the bulbs, one refrigerator, and an oil central heat air blower running. Then I changed out the bulbs to the curly version, plugged them into timers so they only run at night, and my electric bill is now $50 a month even though I’m air conditioning this 3200 square foot house. Even the floodlight is curly.
I really didn’t expect my bill to be so low.

My husband hates the light that comes from the curly bulbs, and it really is bright, but they come in a variety of wattages.
